Alida & Roch’s Boho Bliss: A Backyard Wedding in Bristol, Quebec | Cindy Lottes Photography

A Meeting of Hearts and Crafts

Alida and Roch’s story began, as many great stories do, with a twist of fate. Both of their best friends started dating, which led to their first encounter. Fast forward through time, shared moments, and a romantic proposal in Greece, they found themselves planning their dream wedding.

Their professions, Roch as a log home builder and Alida as a Graphic and Web Designer, seem to have predestined them for a DIY wedding. They’re a pair who not only design their dreams but also build them into reality.

The Backyard Setting

Selecting Alida’s parents’ farm in Bristol for their wedding wasn’t just about finding a location; it was about choosing a place that resonates with their personalities. The farm, with its open spaces and familiar corners, was a natural choice for their laid-back and authentic celebration.

Personalized Touches

From Alida’s stylish Dolce Vita shoes to Roch’s sharp Indochino suit, and the elegant rings from Ex Aurum, every detail reflected their taste and journey. The wedding wasn’t just an event; it was a reflection of their life together.

Reggie: The Furry Wedding Party Member

Reggie, their Bernese Mountain Dog, was more than just a pet at the wedding; he was part of the family celebrating the big day. His presence added a sense of warmth and fun, reminding everyone that joy can come in all shapes and sizes.

Heartfelt Moments

The ceremony, led by Deborah-Lynn Beauchamp from All Seasons Weddings, was sincere and touching. Music by Jake Pare set a calm tone, which later gave way to a full on rock concert from the band Ransom, echoing the couple’s mad love for each other.

Lisa Hammond Nugent’s Boho Florals

At Alida and Roch’s wedding, Lisa Hammond Nugent’s floral designs were a testament to her skill and creativity. Using a palette of white, pale rose, burgundy, and greens, she crafted arrangements that perfectly captured the bohemian essence of the day.

Our talented bride, Alida, also created the stunning floral arrangements at the ceremony and reception. The use of dried palm fans added an exotic and textural element to these arrangements. These fans, along with the whimsical pampas grass and delicate bunny tails, created a unique and earthy backdrop. The inclusion of roses in pale rose and white hues infused a sense of classic romance, while the burgundy accents offered a rich contrast, adding depth to the overall aesthetic. The use of pale green eucalyptus rounded out the arrangements, tying all the colors together harmoniously.

Their wedding showcased a boho style with a DIY flair. Picture macrame hangings, handmade dried floral centerpieces, and a glass frame seating chart that likely sprung from Alida’s creative mind. These touches, combined with the natural setting, created a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere.

Dancing on a Homemade Floor

Alida gets to design home decor & furniture and Roch brings them to life. “We were both born into log homes and then built our own together.” Their first dance was truly something special, taking place on a wooden floor platform under a tent, a testament to their handiwork. But that wasn’t all Roch crafted. He also built the harvest tables where guests gathered, adding an extra layer of personal touch and craftsmanship to their day. This dance was more than a moment; it was about Alida and Roch sharing a piece of their dream, a dream they built together, surrounded by the people they love.
